The Building Better Opportunities (BBO) programme aim to improve the lives of those who are unemployed and economically inactive by increasing participants’ employability skills, self-confidence, local knowledge, community engagement, and personal resilience.

Building Better Opportunities brings together funding from the National Lottery Community Fund and the European Social Fund. The fund aims to help tackle the poverty and social exclusion faced by the most disadvantaged people in the Humber region.

Introduction to Teaching Assistant Course

If you are 25 or above, unemployed and considering a career as a Teaching Assistant or would like to support your children with their learning our Introduction to Teaching Assistant course could be perfect for you.

On this free course you will receive support from our Tutor’s to help you build your skills and knowledge in the following areas:

  • How schools operate
  • The role of the teaching assistant
  • Safeguarding strategies
  • Skills and techniques used to encourage learning
  • Supporting children with special educational needs
  • Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Safeguarding and Prevent (certificated course)
  • Return to work skills

How does it work?

This course is currently being run as distance learning. You will have weekly contact with your Tutor who will help you access online training resources and provide information, advice and guidance.

They can also provide support to you with job applications and looking for further training once you have completed our introduction course.
