Jessica Wyllie

When Jessica decided to leave traditional education she approached HBTC to help her find an Apprenticeship. She decided that she did not want to go to university as she is a hands-on learner who wanted to gain experience in a working environment. Jessica says that HBTC “gave lots of good advice and details about roles and quickly organised interviews for me.”

One of the companies that Jessica secured an interview with was Sental Recruitment who are based in Beverley. Sental are a well-established recruitment agency and provide a specialist recruitment service to global and national businesses throughout the UK. When hiring for an Apprentice, Alison Baillie (Office Manager) informs that Sental approached HBTC as;

“they understand our requirements for the business and have offered advice and guidance along the way to ensure we find the right Apprentice for our business needs.”

During the interview process Jessica impressed the team at Sental and was successful in securing the Apprenticeship position. Jessica’s role was Branch Administrator and she was placed onto the Advanced Apprenticeship in Customer Service. Her role was to provide general support to the team in order to help the business run smoothly. She embraced the opportunity and enjoyed meeting and working with new people and becoming an integral part of the business.

Alison was impressed with Jessica as she settled in quickly, was very keen to learn and try new tasks and soon became part of the Sental family. Alison witnessed Jessica’s confidence grow immensely throughout and was impressed by her enthusiasm at learning new skills. Jessica’s role has evolved and she is now a Project Co-ordinator - still providing day-to-day support to the team but also involved in new projects for the business. Jessica believes her confidence and communication skills have developed immeasurably during her time on the Apprenticeship.

Jessica has now gained permanent full-time employment at Sental and has aspirations to develop within the business, with the possibility of stepping up to a managerial position in the future. Alison has had positive experiences with Apprenticeships and believes that;

“Apprentices play an important part in the future development of our workforce, training them to help our business grow in the future.”

Sental have since recruited further Apprentices via HBTC who have also proved to be good additions to their business and will continue to offer further opportunities.
